We are a new support group bringing together patients, surgeons, clinicians, general practitioners, health improvement, leisure services, education, community and voluntary  services to help tackle obesity and the health of patients living across the region.
The group was initiated by Mr Siba Senapati (Consultant Bariatric Surgeon at Salford Royal), Mr Akheel Syed (Consultant Bariatric Physician at Salford Royal) and Mr Jack Carney (Former Principal of The Manchester College and now voluntary athletic coach).
They set up the group in order to provide effective signposting to obesity information and support, share best practice across the region, develop broader measurement programmes of body mass index and to provide a common information point for colleagues from different sectors to ensure coordinated treatment programmes for patients.
“By creating this group we aim to provide a consistent approach across the sub region to ensure patients and clinicians have the support and clinical expertise needed to tackle what has fast become an epidemic across the country” (Siba Senapati – Chair).
